Duke of Edinburgh International Award

World-Class Learning Outside the Classroom: The Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award

At LSL Education Group, we believe that some of life’s biggest lessons happen in the least likely locations. As an officially recognised Independent Award Centre, we are proud to deliver the Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award — a global framework that helps your child stand out from the crowd and find their unique place in the world.

The Award provides a fantastic foundation for a young person to thrive, both now and in the future. It is not an extracurricular activity; it is a journey of self-discovery that builds the resilience, confidence, and essential life skills that universities and employers value most.

This prestigious additional qualification is awarded to our students upon their graduation to celebrate their growth and global readiness.

  • International Recognition: A prestigious certificate recognised by top-tier universities worldwide, providing a significant advantage for scholarship applications.
  • Character Building: Practical, value-based life applications that foster a positive mindset and personal grit.
  • Experiential Learning: “Learning by doing” that takes students beyond the four walls of the school and into real-world environments.
  • Vibrant Community: Quality activities led by well-qualified coaches in a supportive, compassionate environment.

The Award is personal and non-competitive. Each young person develops their own unique programme by choosing self-identified areas of interest within four key sections:

1. Voluntary Service

Students give back to their communities, making a positive contribution to society and demonstrating social responsibility and empathy.

2. Physical Recreation

Encouraging young people to improve their fitness and performance, fostering healthy lifestyles for both mental and physical well-being.

3. Skills

Enabling participants to develop their talents, broaden their abilities, and increase their employability through dedicated practice.

4. Adventurous Journey

Discovering a spirit of adventure and gaining a deeper understanding of the environment as students work together to navigate the great outdoors.

At the Gold Level, students also complete a Residential Project, broadening their experience by staying in an unfamiliar environment with a new group of peers to complete a worthwhile project.

The Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award : Levels of Achievement

We support our students as they progress through the three levels of the Award, ensuring they have the grit to reach the finish line:

  • BRONZE: For those over 14 years (6 months minimum participation).

  • SILVER: For those over 15 years (12 months minimum participation).

  • GOLD: For those over 16 years (18 months minimum participation).

The impact of the Award is clear in our results. We have seen our students use the character and leadership skills developed through this programme to secure prestigious University Principal Award Scholarships and placements at world-class institutions.

By participating in the Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award, our learners do more than just study; they build a portfolio of life experiences that proves they are ready to lead in an ever-evolving global landscape.
